In 2009, we bought our apartment in Kolkata. It was bare and we needed someone to conceptualise our vision in a practical way. You know, as owners, we have dreams-mainly wild and often unattainable - of what we want our future living space to be. Through many conversations with other potential neighbours, we zeroed in on Urvashi Basu, who, we were told, was an upcoming full service interior designer. 2 years later, our apartment was on the cover of the Bengali magazine, Sananda, at that time very much an elitist mag. Conceptualising wild and impractical imagination of the owner into a feasible, practical and cost-effective structure is her forte. Unfortunately, such bespoke thoughts do not necessarily translate into - cheap! And that's why we found Mrs Basu and her company Reality Designs to be effective in converting our blueprint into reality at an acceptable cost. That relationship continues to this day as we maintain, upgrade and redraw our original thinking.
